Types and styles of South East Asian horror

Yurei or Ghost films - Supernatural ghost films that link alot to Japanese tradition and folklore, especially films like the 'The Ring' and 'The Grudge'
'Torture Porn' - term coined after release of the 'Saw' and 'Hostel' films, in reference to the focus on human suffering. Seems important as alot of these western films were inspired by films such as 'Audition' and 'Sympathy for Mr Vengeance'
Branching from 'torture porn', there also seems to be another genre of film which contains graphic violence but in a more darkly humourous way. Films like this are 'Ichi The Killer', where the violence and characters are so extreme and unrealistic the film appears more like a live action cartoon.
